Episode 5, Season 1: A Bird in the Pan

B&B Chicken': I bought a few things for this recipe...a mortar and pestle (I thought, this might come in handy in the summer since I love mojitos :), a gravy separator also known as a fat separator (little did I know), and a roasting pan. Everything was going to plan until I tried to put the roasting pan in the oven, but oven is made for midgets!!! It didn't fit Ugh! Oh well, I threw the chicken in the oven, kept it on broil and it turned out amazing. My only two cents, I wish I would have added salt and pepper to the jus sauce while cooking..but that was easy to fix.

Epidode 4, Season 1: Salad Daze

Vendi Vedi Vinaigrette: Only Alton would find another use for the cocktail shaker! But he did. Made the salad tonight 12/21. We are taking the leftovers to work tomorrow...but really the dressing didn't last that long, it was good. It was a red wine vinairgrette, good, but how good can a red vinairgrette be?

Hail Caesar Salad: Coming Soon....

Episode 3, Season 1: The Egg Files

Eggs Over Easy: Um, first of all who would have thought that Alton could fill a 30 minute show with 2 recipes, eggs over easy and scrambled eggs. But he did and I believe he has a few different shows all about the eggs. Eggs over easy, what is not to love. First reading the recipe, the only thing you can think is there no way the eggs are going to cook. But I will tell you, the eggs where amazing (Mom, no cripsiness on the sides, you would love them).

Scrambled Eggs: Super yummy, accidently burnt the butter the first time....Had to do a redo a week later. I have to say, even though I browned the butter it still where awesome eggs.

Episode 2 Season 1: This Spud's For You

Mashers: Another one of those recipes that I didn't read the recipes clearly enough. You are not supposed to peel the red potatoes, but you are supposed to peel the russets...I cut up the russets and then went back and peeled. Anyway, I am sure you grandmother would agree with this recipe, but a little warning, it almost comes with a guarantee that you ass will double in size, but it gets bigger (see below;). Made this with the Steaks on 11/15/2009

Masher Cakes: What’s better than mashed potatoes with buttermilk? Fry them!!!! Ate these with a salad...I guess I was thinking if I had a salad it wouldn't be that bad for you. HAHA. Made on 11/16/2009

Episode 1 Season 1: Steak Your Claim

Pan-Seared Rib-Eye Steaks: Okay, first we found out our apartment is way too small to make something that smokes that much! We opened all the windows and the doors to vent the apartment. The steak turned out better than most restaurant steaks I have had. No Joke! Not sure it has to do with the quality of the meat or the recipe but it was yummy.

Cognac Pan Sauce: Totally choked on this one! You are supposed to add the cognac to the pan that you cooked the steaks in, however the fear of burning down the apartment took over. So I cooked it in a pan with the other ingredients. Because of this, you could taste a little bit of the cognac, but then again that never hurt anyone.

Wine: Shooting Star, Sovereign Cabernet (One of my favs!) Cooked on 11/15/2009
